We were contacted by a local reputable main contractor “Dolphin Sheffield” to quote a out of the ordinary dry lining and suspended ceiling project creating office space out of a classroom. As the building follows a geometric theme throughout the client wanted the ceilings and walls to retain the integrity of the building. The Architect envisaged a hexagon central atrium exposing the fabric of the building along with perimeter ceiling bulkheads which we executed flawlessly.
The main staircase to the building spiralled a glass lift shaft that over the years had been damaged and repaired and looked very unsightly. The glass could not be removed as there was asbestos present within the lift shaft. We were tasked with cladding the entire 7 story lift shaft in feature cladding. The cladding had to be hard wearing as the staircase itself it’s a main thourofare for the university. We designed a tessellating pattern and proposed Valchromat as a material as the board is pre coloured throughout and requires no decoration just a clear lacquer finish. Our pragmatic approach to the design and execution exceeded both our client and end users expectations.
